Budget glasses chain Eyelove expands to US with mobile stores

Dutch budget spectacles chain Eyelove is planning to expand to the US with a system of mobile shops, Eyelove director Paul Berkelmans told Dutch online news service Nu.nl.

The mobile shops, which come with the services of an optician, will visit big companies and fit workers with glasses on the spot, Berkelmans said, adding that trials have already proved successful.

Set up in 2010, the US is Eyelove’s third market. Last year several shops-in-shops were opened in Belgian stores.

Eyelove sells an annual 200,000 pairs of spectacles every year and claims a 7% share of the Dutch market. The company reported turnover 21% higher at €13m in 2017.
