The baby snatched from her foster mother outside a Brabant supermarket on Monday morning has been found safe and well.

Baby Hannah and her biological parents were found on a German holiday park in Bad Bentheim, close to the Dutch border. They were picked up in cooperation with German police and are awaiting extradition to the Netherlands.

‘Hannah has been taken to a place of safety and will be returned to the Netherlands as soon as possible,’ a police spokesman said.

Police had issued an Amber Alert after the child was taken. An eyewitness spotted both the black Mercedes they drove of in, and the father, near the holiday village and alerted the police.

The couple’s lawyer told news agency ANP later that they had taken the child out of frustration at losing her child.

Hanneke was taken into care when she was seven weeks old after social workers became suspicious about two broken ribs sustained by the baby, plus other injuries.
