The frosty snap which hit most of the Netherlands on Sunday will only last until Tuesday morning, with cloud cover set to move in later that day, weather bureau KNMI said.

The temperature fell to as low as -3 degrees overnight in the north east, but felt chillier due to the north easterly wind.

Monday will sunny in most of the country, with some cloud in the south and temperatures just above zero, but it will feel colder in the wind, the KNMI said.

After a light frost on Monday evening, cloud will move into the south, bringing light showers and warmer temperatures. It will remain chilly all week, with cloud cover and little chance of sunshine.

The KNMI’s long-range forecast sees little change in the next two weeks.
