It won’t be as warm as the past two years over the Christmas break but it will be dry and around 9 degrees, weather forecasters said on Friday.

Christmas Day itself will be dry but cloudy, while the sun may come out for a time on December 26. Rain is also likely on Tuesday and it will be a little more windy.

The last white Christmas in the Netherlands was in 2010.

Winter has now begun officially and there has been little sun so far this month. According to weather bureau Buienrader, there has been 40% less sunshine than in the average December.

The KNMI long-range forecast sees rain towards the end of the week and the mild weather continuing into the New Year.
