Dutch battery and car charging station maker may list in Amsterdam

Dutch battery maker Alfen is planning to list on the Amsterdam stock exchange to benefit from strong demand for its electronic car charging stations and storage systems, news agency Reuters said on Tuesday, quoting ‘people close to the matter’.

Alfen, which is based in Almere, is owned by investment company Infestos and ABN Amro and Barclays are working with the company to organise the flotation, the sources said.

One pioneering Alfen project is based at the ADO Den Haag football stadium, where Alfen is storing solar energy produced by the stadium’s solar panels and using it to power up electric vehicles in the car park.

Alfen was founded in 1937.  It diversified into car charging systems in 2007 and large scale batteries in 2013. The Financieele Dagblad said the company booked turnover of €72m last year, turning in operating profit of €1.6m and net profit of €1.2m.
