Police in Amsterdam are searching for a young woman who is thought to have abandoned a small boy at the city’s main railway session on Sunday afternoon.

The boy, aged four or five, was found wandering around the station alone and no-one has come forward to report a missing child, police said on Wednesday.

Video footage shows the woman with the child and a large suitcase but later footage shows her alone. The child is thought to be foreign and does not speak Dutch.

The boy, who is in good health, is being looked after by a foster family.
