The management of Tata Steel in the Netherlands is seriously concerned about its future in IJmuiden after a planned merger with Germany’s ThyssenKrupp, reports the NOS broadcaster.

It is reportedly worried about a loss of control of Dutch income, and more job losses than predicted.

The body’s central works council has said that there could be up to 5500 positions lost, instead of the 4,000 previously discussed.

Announced in September, the merger would create Europe’s second-largest flat steel business.
