Takeaway business very appetising, says market leader

Takeaway.com, the parent company of what is known in the Netherlands as thuisbezorgd.nl, reported a 42% rise in the number of deliveries in the third quarter of 2017, taking the total to 17 million meals in continental Europe.

The meal delivery service, the largest in Europe, does not publish detailed financial results in quarterly reports.

In the Netherlands, Takeaway’s sales were 34% higher with seven million meals delivered to customers’ homes. In Germany, 5.8 million meals were delivered, representing a 39% increase.

Takeaway also operates in Belgium, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Portugal and Vietnam under several local brand names. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam where it is listed on the stock exchange.

The company has announced it will increase its commission as of 1 January which is expected to increase turnover by 5%. Takeaway reports annual sales in excess of $100m.
