A Muslim cleric who was deported from Belgium for being ‘a danger to state security’ has now been spotted in The Hague, the Telegraaf says on Thursday.

A spokesman for the city council has confirmed that the imam, El Alami Amouch, has a Dutch passport and is, therefore, allowed to live in the Netherlands, the paper said.

‘If he breaks the law, action will be taken against him,’ the spokesman said.

A spokesman for the justice and security ministry said it was aware of the man, but that it could not comment on individual cases. However, action can be taken if someone poses a threat to national security, the spokesman said.

The imam, also known as Alami Abu Hamza, has been banned from entering Belgium for 10 years, RTL reported. He was described by a Belgian minister as ‘poison for our Muslim youth. He celebrates terrorism’, the broadcaster said.

According to RTL, he spent four years living in Dison, a small Belgian town close to the industrial city of Verviers, which is known as the jihadi city of Belgium.
