Much-traded high street staple Hunkemöller again for sale

Dutch high street staple lingerie chain Hunkemöller appears to be up for sale once again, the Telegraaf has reported.

US investment fund Carlyle is looking for a buyer ready to fork out more than €600m for the chain which was founded in1886 in Amsterdam as a specialty shop for corsets. Nowadays it is an omni-channel brand with more than 4,000 employees in more than 23 countries with some 800 stores.

The company was acquired by Carlyle in the beginning of 2016 for about €500m. PAI Partners, a European private equity group, bought Hunkemöller in 2010 for €265m from the Maxeda retail group which then owned the V&D department stores chain.
