Dutch exports to Russia increased by 35% to €3.2bn in the first seven months of 2017, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.

Exports of goods made in the Netherlands were 40% higher at €2bn, while re-exports climbed by 28% in the period, the CBS added.

The cash value of exported goods was still 20% lower than in 2013 when political and economic developments began to affect exports. In January and August 2014, Russia imposed a boycott on some food products, which still remains in effect.

Russia is now the 15th largest export market for Dutch goods, down from 10th place in 2013. In 2016, roughly 3,000 Dutch firms were engaged in exports to Russia, 25% fewer than in 2013.
