Fashion companies McGregor and Gaastra are trying to start up again after two bankruptcies since June 2016. This time, the new effort is backed by Rens van der Schoor who has previously rescued the troubled shop chains Miss Etam and Promiss, the Financieele Dagblad has reported.

The previous owners of the concept have nothing to do with the new effort the paper said. Founders Jeroen Schothorst and Ben Kolff, investor Marcel Boekhoorn and investment bank NIBC were involved in the second rescue effort for the troubled firms.

In addition to coming to the aid of Miss Etam, Brantano and Promiss, Van der Schoor was involved with the FNG fashion group in Belgium and the Netherlands. FNG also operates the Claudia Sträter and Steps stores chains.

It is uncertain whether McGregor will first be reorganised before joining the FNG group. The shops of McGregor, Gaastra and Adam will remain open during the transition.
