The Netherlands is currently taking in more Syrian refugees from Turkey than any other country in Europe apart from Germany, new figures from the European Commission show, the NRC said on Friday.

The Netherlands has so far accepted 1,953 Syrian nationals through the refugee agreement struck with Ankara last year. Germany has accepted 2,900 and France 927.

In total, 8,800 Syrians who fled the fighting to Turkey have been found a new home in Europe, but 13 of the 28 EU countries have not accepted any under the Ankara deal, the NRC said.
