The temperature is set to soar to at least 30 degrees in the far south of the country on Tuesday, according to weather bureau Weeronline.

Despite a misty start to Monday, it will soon warm up with temperatures in central parts rising to around 26 degrees. It will be cooler in the north and warmer in the south.

Tuesday itself will be very sunny everywhere, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 27 degrees in the north and as high as 32 degrees in the south, Weeronline says.

Wednesday it will be much cooler – down to as low as 18 degrees in northern coastal areas and in the low 20s everywhere else. Rain is likely later in the day.

The rest of the week will be a mixture of sunny and cloudy periods and occasional showers, with temperatures of around 19 degrees, just under the average for the time of year.

The KNMI long-range forecast says the unsettled weather will continue well into September.
