Flevoland debt collection agency Straetus has threatened to post images of people who have not paid their debts online, reports the NOS.

Its first videos are set to be posted on YouTube on Friday morning, apparently after a one-month warning to debtors.

The owner and director Lohd Hendriks said he is switching to this ‘extra pressure measure’ if people do not respond to requests to pay.

Connie Maathuis, director of the association of debt collection agencies has said this is not a desirable course of action and the Dutch data protection agency is apparently questioning whether it might contravene privacy rules.

But Hendriks reportedly told NOS: ‘We make someone’s face unrecognisable and blurred, as our lawyer advised, and also their licence place.’
