Companies based in the Netherlands are having trouble finding suitable office space in several areas of the country, the Telegraaf reported on Friday.

Although there is considerable vacant office space available, there is a mismatch between supply and demand, the Dutch commercial property brokers association NVM Office said in a new report. Companies increasingly are seeking tailor-made office accommodation, the report said.

NVM Office said available space often did not meet current requirements for sustainability, size and open plan space. Location is another factor. The report noted there was often a lack of suitable office space in city centres and near railway stations.

The report said at least 300,000 m2 of new office space will have to be created every year. Favoured locations are in the big commercial cities in the western urban agglomeration.
