Fugro, Boskalis to clear wind farm site seabed of mines
Two Dutch maritime companies have been awarded a multi-million euro contract to clear the sea bottom around an offshore wind farm to be built in Zeeland province waters, news website Nu.nl has reported.
Soil analysis and geoservices firm Fugro of Amsterdam and dredger Boskalis of Papendrecht are joining forces to clear the Borssele site of unexploded bombs and mines and other dangerous debris before construction work begins.
The contact was awarded by electricty grid operator Tennet. The site is 22 kilometres off the Zeeland coast and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2023.
