Financial service workers are most likely to fear redundancy
Around one in four workers are worried about losing their jobs, down from one in three at the height of the financial crisis in 2013, the national statistics office CBS said on Tuesday.
Before the crisis began in 2007, however, just 16% of workers said they feared being made redundant.
In particular, people working in healthcare and the construction sector are less worried about becoming unemployed – both sectors have grown considerably since the crisis ended.
People working in the financial sector, however, remain the most concerned about job security, with over one third still fearing redundancy. At the height of the crisis, that figure was 42%.
The financial services sector is still in considerable upheaval as banks slash their workforces to cope with the rise of internet banking and IT-driven efficiency.
