More competitive prices on hotel booking sites, consumer group reports

Simferopol, Russia – April 13, 2014: Booking.com the system online hotel reservations. Is founded in Amsterdam in 1996.

Hotel prices have become fairer after consumer watchdogs warned hotel booking sites to become more competitive, the Telegraaf reported on Friday.

Since 2014, the ACM Dutch consumer body has cooperated with nine other European watchdogs and the European Commission to reduce the power of the predominant sites, Amsterdam-based Booking.com and Expedia.com of Seattle.

The watchdogs jointly published a report on Thursday showing that now the competition between the two sites has broadened, room prices are coming down.

Their action also banned the sites from offering lower rates than those published on the websites of individual hotels.
