Jihadi bride to stay in high security prison, court rules

A 21-year-old Dutch mother who claims to have escaped from IS-held territory in Syria will remain in jail for a further three months, judges decided on Wednesday.
Laura Hansen, from Zoetermeer, has been in detention since she landed at Schiphol airport in August, having fled via Kurdish territory with her two young children with the help of her father. She claims she was tricked into going to Syria by her husband after the family left for what she believed was a holiday in Turkey.
The public prosecution department says it is examining all the options, including the possibility she was sent back to the Netherlands to carry out a terrorist attack and wants to keep her in jail while the investigation continues.
Hansen is being held in a high security prison with other terror suspects.
Her father Eugene was allowed to address the court on Wednesday and told judges he does not understand why officials consider his daughter to be a potential terrorist.
‘I have all faith in her good intentions,’ he said. ‘What happened to her reads like a bizarre thriller’, the Telegraaf reported.
The next procedural hearing in the case will take place on May 4.
