Ajax reach Europa League round of 16, AZ hammered again
Amsterdam football club Ajax reached the last 16 of the Europa League on Thursday night with a narrow home win over Legia Warsaw.
The 1-0 victory was enough to put Ajax through after the two sides drew 0-0 in Warsaw last week.
Ajax also made the last 16 in 2011 and 2015, but were put out then both times.
The draw for the next round in the competition, which includes Manchester United and Schalke, takes place later on Friday.
AZ of Alkmaar were hammered 7-1 by Olympique Lyon in the French city, after losing 4-1 on their home turf last week.
