Police station closed after discovery of wartime grenade

Venlo police stationA police station was closed for several hours after three schoolboys brought in an unexploded Second World War grenade.

The explosive device was found on heathland in Venlo, Limburg, at the weekend. Part of the building was cordoned off and staff asked to work in other areas while the grenade was stored in the station’s car park.

The bomb disposal service (EOD) collected the grenade at around 2.30am and detonated it in a controlled explosion shortly afterwards, NOS reported.
