Dutch animated film maker wins third Oscar nomination

Dutch film maker Michael Dudok de Wit and producer Toshio Suzuki have been nominated for an Oscar for their animated film The Red Turtle.

The Red Turtle, which has no dialogue, tells the story of a man who becomes shipwrecked on a deserted island and meets a giant red turtle which thwarts his attempts to escape.

The film has already been nominated for, and won, a string of awards.

Dudok de Wit, who has lived in Britain for years, won the short animated film Oscar in 2000 for Father and Daughter and was nominated in 1994 for The Monk and the Fish.
