Chinese owner pays ADO Den Haag the missing €2m

The Chinese owner of The Hague’s football club ADO Den Haag has paid up the remaining €2m it owed the club, the Volkskrant said on Friday.

Last week Wang Hui paid up €500,000 of the €2.5m it had been ordered to pay by judges earlier this month. The payment means the club is financially secure for the rest of the season, the Volkskrant said.

The payment, made by Wang Hui’s company United Vansen, was crucial to ensure the Dutch football association did not have to take further action against ADO which is already in special measures.

The conflict between Wang Hui and ADO has been ongoing for 2.5 years. In other court cases, Wang Hui has been suspended as club chairman and has lost control of his shares.
