The Dutch economy is performing exceptionally well, but faces threats from Brexit and the rise of Donald Trump which both hinder the development of free trade, Dutch central bank DNB president Klaas Knot said on the political television programme Buitenhof on Sunday.

To avoid unnecessary damages caused by Brexit, the rest of the EU  should not harbour any ill-will towards the UK, he said.

‘The British people made up their minds  and it is up to us to help build a new relationship with as much room as possible for free trade and an orderly transition phase,’ the DNB president said.
