Six-year-old boy’s nail varnish fund raiser brings in over €1m

heelhollandlaktThe campaign by a terminally-ill boy to raise money for charity by varnishing people’s nails has raised over €1m for the Red Cross, radio station 3FM said on Friday.

Tijn, who is six, had hoped to raise €100 for 3FM’s Serious Request fund raising drive which takes place at the end of December every year.

Tijn and his father began raising money by challenging people to agree to having their nails painted and make a donation of €1. If they refused, they were asked to donate €10 instead.

Since then the campaign has gone viral on social media. Thousands of people are painting their nails, making a donation and placing a photo online.
