Willem II 0 v 0 PSV Eindhoven: PSV drop more points in the Brabant derby

The stop-start season for the reigning Eredivisie champions continued as PSV were held to a goalless draw by local rivals Willem II.

PSV captain Luuk de Jong came closest to opening the scoring for the visitors but was twice denied by Willem II keeper Kostas Lamprou.

At the other end Thom Haye was denied by Zoet with the PSV keeper pulling off a fine stop, as both sides failed to break the derby deadlock.

Excelsior 3 v 2 Sparta Rotterdam: Excelsior hold on to claim Rotterdam derby triumph

Excelsior put an end to a run of six straight defeats in a five goal Rotterdam derby thriller. Sparta striker Loris Brogno gave the visitors a 22nd minute lead only for Excelsior to hit back in quick succession as Stanley Elbers and Fredy turned the game on its head for the hosts.

A 65th minute Nigel Hasselbaink penalty extended the home side’s lead before Denzel Dumfries hit back for Sparta just five minutes later.

The Spartans pushed for an equaliser but never troubled the Excelsior defence as the hosts held on comfortably to claim the derby spoils.

Groningen 2 v 1 ADO Den Haag: Groningen run out deserved winners at the Euroborg

Goals in each half from Hans Hateboer and Tom Van Weert were enough for Groningen to claim three much needed points. Hateboer registered his first ever Eredivisie goal as the defender volleyed home after 10 minutes.

The hosts pushed to double the advantage but both Tom Van Weert and Etienne Reijnen failed to beat Ernestas Setkus in the ADO goal.

And the home side were made to pay on 42 minutes as Edouard Duplan equalised for ADO against the run of play.

Van Weert restored the lead for Groningen after 54 minutes, finishing from a tight angle when found by a Reijnen through ball. And the hosts held on comfortably to pull away from the basement of the Eredivisie table.

Roda JC 1 v 1 AZ Alkmaar: All square in stormy Kerkrade

AZ striker Wout Weghorst rescued a point for AZ in game battered by the weather in Kerkrade. The wind had the upper hand in the first half with neither side threatening to break the deadlock.

That was until a mistake by veteran defender Ron Vlaar allowed Abdul Ajagun to bare down on goal before firing home his first Eredivisie strike on 39 minutes.

While both sides struggled in the face of a fierce wind in the second period, AZ dealt with the conditions the better of the two, and striker Weghorst volleyed home after 59 minutes to give the visitors a share of the points.

Dolberg doubled the tally five minutes later, side footing home from 15 yards, before securing a first half hat trick with a 37th minute back header.

Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore hit a fourth for Ajax after 55 minutes, quickly followed by a Lasse Schone drive past NEC keeper Joris Delle.

Utrecht came away with a share of the spoils despite playing 81 minutes with ten men.

Defender Ramon Leeuwin was given his marching orders after a ninth minute foul on Enes Unal, and the visitors suffered a further setback when Hidde ter Avest opened the scoring for Twente on 22 minutes.

However, the visitors hit back four minutes later when striker Richairo Zivkovic headed home.

Twente missed a host of chances in the opening period of the second half as Unal, Bersant Celina and substitute Dylan Seys failed to find the net.

At the other end Utrecht striker Sebastian Haller was denied by Twente keeper Nick Marsman.

The hosts pushed the ten men back for the remainder of the second half but Utrecht held on to claim a deserved point.

Feyenoord 3 v 0 PEC Zwolle: First win in three games for leaders Feyenoord

Goals from Dirk Kuijt, Karim El Ahmadi and Jens Toornstra gave Feyenoord victory over PEC in Rotterdam.

Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen was denied by a Wout Brama goal line clearance before veteran Kuijt broke the deadlock after 38 minutes.
