Sparta Rotterdam put last year’s league champions PSV out of the KNVB Cup on Tuesday night, with a 3-1 home win in the second round of the competition.

The two sides had met the previous weekend in the league competition and PSV had struggled then to achieve a 1-0 win. Coach Phillip Cocu said after the game that the result was terrible and the club had failed to reach the standards expected of it.

Elsewhere, amateur Gouda side Jodan Boys put out Eredivisie squad Go Ahead Eagles 1-2. Jodan Boys are only the third amateur side to knock out a premier league club from the cup competition with an away win, news agency ANP said.

ADO Den Haag also had a narrow 2-1 win over Telstar to reach the round of 16.

Both Ajax and Feyenoord are in action on Wednesday evening.
