Security company G4S is cutting 150 jobs at Schiphol airport and says compulsory redundancies cannot be ruled out.

Fewer security staff are now needed at the airport since it shifted to a centralised passenger control system, the company said, adding that the quality of security at Schiphol will not be affected.

G4S is one of several security firms at the airport but the others are involved in other parts of the complex and are not so vulnerable to the centralisation, an FNV union spokesman told news agency ANP.

G4S employs 6,500 people in the Netherlands, many of whom work in the country’s prison network.
