Willem II shocked Ajax to claim a first ever win in Amsterdam, Twente win thriller in Groningen, while Feyenoord maintain a perfect start in Almelo, writes Neil Adderley.

Excelsior 1 v 2 ADO Den Haag: Dream start continues for ADO

ADO overturned a one goal deficit to claim a third win in three games in Rotterdam.

Jurgen Mattheij crashed home a header to give Excelsior the lead from a Brandley Kuwas corner after 7 minutes.

But ADO struck back on 25 minutes when Gervane Kastaneer fired home from a tight angle.

Excelsior came close to restoring the lead before the break with Nigel Hasselbaink being denied by ADO keeper Ernestas Setkus.

The winner in a tight affair eventually fell to ADO cult hero Tom Beugelsdijk as the big defender rose highest to head home a 68th minute Edouard Duplan corner.

Roda JC 0 v 1 Vitesse Arnhem: Vitesse squeeze past Roda

A first half goal from Lewis Baker was enough to give Vitesse three points in Kerkrade.

Roda opened the game on the front foot with Adil Auassar testing Eloy Room from close range.

But it was Vitesse who broke the deadlock on 23 minutes with a low drive beating Benjamin van Leer at the near post.

Roda pushed Vitesse back throughout the second half and were left with head in hands as Nestoras Mytides somehow failed to restore parity after hitting the post from a yard out with the Vitesse goal gaping.

Ajax 1 v 2 Willem II: Ajax suffer humiliating defeat at the hands of Willem II

The Tilburgers had never won in Amsterdam and the signs looked ominous for the visitors when Davy Klaassen headed Ajax into the lead after only 24 seconds.

However, the expected rout failed to materialise and Willem II hit back when Erik Falkenburg fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

The visitors then stunned the home crowd into silence as Fran Sol was given the freedom of Amsterdam before turning and hitting a low shot to give Willem II an unlikely lead.

Ajax struggled to make an impact on the Willem II goal and under fire keeper Kostas Lamprou was rarely threatened in the second period.

The visitors held on comfortably for a famous victory while Ajax, booed from the field, find themselves five points adrift of reigning champions PSV.

PEC Zwolle 0 v 4 PSV Eindhoven: Champions ease to victory in Zwolle

PSV dominated the hosts and should have put the game beyond PEC within the opening ten minutes.

Eventually the champions hit a deserved opener through Nicolas IsimatMirin on the fifteen minute mark, before Jorrit Hendrix celebrated his call up to the Dutch national team by doubling the lead before the break.

The second period mirrored the first with PSV squandering chance after chance until captain Luuk de Jong claimed his first goal of the season on 86 minutes.

And the comfortable victory was sealed when 18 year old substitute Steven Bergwijn rifled home after more good work from man of the match Hendrix.

NEC Nijmegen 2 v 1 Heerenveen: NEC off the mark with first win

Goals from Dario Dumic and Reagy Ofosu handed the hosts a first victory of the season in Nijmegen.

Heerenveen keeper Erwin Mulder pulled off a fantastic stop to deny Quincy OwusuAbeyie before defender Dumic headed home the opener for the hosts on 32 minutes.

However, the lead lasted less than three minutes as Pelle van Amersfoort nodded home at the far post to bring the sides level.

Mulder then denied Dumic a second headed goal, and the keeper who was kept very busy by a mobile NEC front three, was again called into action to block a OwusuAbeyie shot.

But the keeper was left helpless after 58 minutes when OwusuAbeyie released Reagy Ofosu who made no mistake from the edge of the penalty area.

Groningen 3 v 4 Twente: Seven goal thriller at the Euroborg

Groningen and Twente played out a spectacular seven goal thriller with the visitors letting slip a three goal lead before clinching an injury time winner.

Groningen, without a point or a goal from two opening games, were blown away by a stunning first half hat trick by Manchester City loanee Enes Unal.

Unal opened the scoring for Twente after beating three defenders before firing inside the far post. And he doubled

his account with an another fine strike after controlling an Hakim Ziyech cross on the chest.

The young striker completed a first half hat trick on 38 minutes with a powerful finish after poor defending from Juninho Bacuna.

A shell shocked Groningen hit back early in the second half with Mimoun Mahi turning before firing home on 51 minutes.

And the hosts gave its suffering supporters hope when Oussama Idrissi pulled another goal back on the hour mark.

Groningen pushed for an equaliser and completed a remarkable comeback as Danny Hoesen restored parity with a 77th minute free kick.

However, with only seconds left on the injury time clock Jari Oosterwijk found space inside the box before sliding the ball past Groningen keeper Sergio Padt to cap off a stunning game in the Euroborg.

Utrecht 1 v 2 AZ Alkmaar: First win secured for AZ

AZ claimed a first win of the season in Utrecht as goals from Markus Henriksen and Alireza Jahanbakhsh cancelled out a Patrick Joosten equaliser.

Henriksen curled in from the edge of the penalty area before Utrecht twice came close through Kevin Conboy and Yassin Ayoub.

AZ continued with the upper hand in the second half but were caught cold when Joosten found the net with an accurate shot.

However, with the game seemingly petering out to a draw a deflected Jahanbakhsh effort was enough for AZ to claim all three points.

Sparta 1 v 0 Go Ahead Eagles: Late penalty seals Sparta win

Zakaria El Azzouzi came closest to opening the scoring with a shot against the post in a scrappy first half in Rotterdam.

The second period was just as poor with the newly promoted teams cancelling each other out in a game neither deserved to win.

But a foul by Sander Fischer on Loris Brogno handed the Spartans a late spot kick and Brogno dusted himself down before making no mistake from 12 yards.

Heracles Almelo 0 v 1 Feyenoord: El Ahmadi goal maintains winning start for Feyenoord

Feyenoord squeezed past Heracles in a tight game settled by a first half Karim El Ahmadi goal.

The former Aston Villa midfielder was fortunate to receive the ball after a scramble in the Heracles box before firing past keeper Bram Castro.

Paul Gladon and Thomas Bruns came close to an equaliser for Heracles that pushed back Feyenoord for long periods of the second period.

But the early league leaders held firm to maintain a perfect start to the 2016/17 Eredivisie season.
