The European Athletics Championships started in Amsterdam on Wednesday, with women’s discus and javelin at the Museumplein and a lively crowd.

More than 22,000 people visited the athletics, reports the Parool. Tickets for the Olympic Stadium, where most events will be held, sold out long ago but fans can still visit the free events at Museumplein.

The schedule on Thursday includes the women’s 200m, high jump and women’s shot put finals.

The athletics end on Sunday 10th July.
