Brexit fails to dent Dutch manufacturing confidence

Rotterdam industryThe British vote in favour of leaving the European Union has not had a significant impact on Dutch manufacturers’ confidence, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

While there has been a very slight drop in confidence compared with June, optimism clearly outstrips pessimism and the construction industry remains the most positive about the economic prospects, the CBS said.

The manufacturing confidence index reached its highest level in five years in June and despite slipping from 5.4 to 5.1, remains at a five year high.

The Netherlands is one of Britain’s main trading partners.
