Queen Máxima has concussion after a fall, may miss holiday photo session

Queen Máxima is suffering from slight concussion following a fall in Wassenaar on Friday, the state information service RVD said on Wednesday.

The queen has been told to take these easy for the coming days and it has not yet been decided if she will take part in Friday’s traditional photo session with the press, the RVD said.

The twice-yearly photo sessions were established in 2005 as part of a media code governing photographing the Dutch royal family.

In the code, journalists agreed not to take photographs of the royal family outside official engagements. In return, the family agreed to pose for photographs at twice-yearly sessions; once in the summer and once at the start of their skiing holiday.

The RVD has not given any information about how Máxima fell, or whether the accident happened at the family home or elsewhere.
