Bus company Connexxion said on Monday it will stop running services through some areas of Almere after a bus was pelted with stones by a gang of youths for the third night running.

On Sunday night, two Connexxion security workers in a minibus became the latest victims of the attacks in the Kruidenwijk district of the city. On Friday and Saturday, buses carrying passengers were targeted by the gang of up to 40 youths.

The company said on Monday it was withdrawing bus services from the Kruidenwijk, forcing passengers to make other arrangements. The decision has been reached in agreement with mayor Franc Weerwind, news agency ANP said.
