Champions League football moves to tv channel Veronica

champions leagueCoverage of next season’s Champions League football is being shifted from commercial broadcaster SBS6 to Veronica, parent company SBS6 Broadcasting said on Tuesday.

SBS6 needs the airtime to broadcast new Dutch series, which cannot be combined with fixed football nights, the company said.

SBS Broadcasting and publishing group Sanoma bought the rights to broadcast the Champions League up to 2018. Public broadcaster Nos did not compete in the bidding war.

SBS operates three commercial television channels in the Netherlands: family broadcaster SBS6, Net 5, and Veronica which focuses on young men.
