Ziggo lost more clients in the first three months of this year, according to quarterly figures published on Tuesday.

The cable company lost 40,000 subscribers to competitors in the television and telephone market, leaving it with 9.7 million. Internet subscriptions rose very slightly, by 8,000.

But more people were using its Horizon TV service, which also allows viewing via mobile devices, and which grew by 100,000 accounts. It isn’t known how many old clients changed to a new Horizon media box, reports ANP.

Ziggo said it lost 7,000 fewer clients than in the previous year, due to improvements in quality.
