Two men killed as crane platform plunges to the ground
Two men have been killed and one seriously injured in an accident involving a crane just off the A2 motorway near Zaltbommel.
The men were on the crane’s carrying platform hanging a banner from the façade of an empty hotel when the accident happened, Dutch media said. The hotel had been empty for years and is now being revamped for the Van der Valk chain.
Safety inspectors are now trying to establish what happened. The crane is still standing but according to some reports, the platform had fallen to the ground.
