As the economy picks up, the long-term jobless total is down by 57,000

The number of people who have been out of work for more than a year in the Netherlands has fallen by around 20% compared with a year ago, according to new figures from national statistics office CBS.

In the first three months of this year, 232,000 people had been looking for a job for more than 12 months, down 57,000 on the same period in 2015.

In total, some 604,000 people are on the official unemployment register, a drop of 60,000 on the first three months of 2015.
