Douwe Bob, who represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision song contest in Sweden on Saturday, arrived back in the country on Sunday evening, saying he was over his disappointment.

The singer’s much hyped performance only generated him joint 11th place in the contest, which was won by Ukraine.

The Dutch song, Slow Down, gathered 114 points from the professional juries but failed to win much support from the general public.

‘It is not as if I can say that I should have sung some notes differently or did not look at the camera properly,’ he told radio station 3FM. ‘I gave it absolutely everything I could.’
