A 27-year-old man from Assen has been given 40 hours community service for spreading inflammatory texts about the care of refugees using social media channels, news agency ANP reports.

The man had placed texts such as ‘People, we must rise up and not just accept everything like sheep’ and ‘If we go there with 100 of us and set the mess on fire and then all deny it.’

The court found the man guilty of stirring up trouble against refugees by encouraging arson.

The 40 hours of community service was in line with the public prosecutions demand.
