Queen Máxima is the only Dutch national on Time magazine’s new list of the most influential people in the world.

Máxima, who is Argentine by birth, was described as an ‘envoy for opportunity‘. She is included in Time’s list of leaders, which also includes Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel  and Donald Trump.

‘With her firm grasp of the technical issues, political savvy and boundless energy, queen Máxima has masterfully used her role as the UN secretary-general’s special advocate,’ Time says.

The magazine praises her ’empathy and her easy laughter to cajole, encourage and support decision makers—from the hallowed halls of the financial-standard-setting bodies in Basel, Switzerland, to the female leaders of savings groups in rural villages’.

A survey by RTL news on Tuesday showed Máxima is the most popular member of the Dutch royal family.
