An overturned lorry has closed the busy A2 motorway in both directions at Leende, south of Eindhoven on Wednesday morning.

According to motoring organisation ANWB, the lorry ploughed through the central reservation, scattering packs of milk all over both sides of the road. Transport ministry officials are warning motorists of extremely long delays and advise them to avoid the area altogether.

Motorists caught up in the crash will have to wait for transport ministry officials to lead them away from the site, which is expected to take several hours.

It is not clear when the road will reopen but officials hope it will be before the evening rush-hour. In the meantime, drivers are being told to travel via Venlo.
