Ministers and the refugee settlement agency COA are working on setting up a separate asylum seekers centre for those ‘who don’t behave’, the Telegraaf says on Thursday.

Sources in The Hague have confirmed the existence of the plans which are in a briefing junior justice minister Klaas Dijkhoff is due to send parliament this week, the paper says.

‘I agree with parliament that troublemakers should be tackled and it made clear to them that we will not tolerate their behaviour,’ Dijkhoff is quoted as saying in the draft letter.

Asylum seekers cannot be deported but can be placed in separate accommodation. ‘Dijkhoff wants to put troublemakers in a more austere regime and require them to report to officials daily,’ the paper says.

They may also be given lessons in changing their behaviour and be limited to bed and board with no cash for extras.

Dijkhoff has already refused to consider placing vulnerable refugees, such as gay men and women, in separate accommodation because this would send out the wrong signal.
