Code yellow storm warning nationwide as winds batter coast

Screen Shot 2016-03-28 at 07.31.40The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow storm warning for all parts of the country on Monday, saying winds could reach up to 90 kph at times.

In the morning it will be cloudy with some rain but in the afternoon, heavy showers could also be accompanied by thunderstorms. The temperature will hover around 12C.

The south to southwesterly wind brought by storm Katie will pick up during the morning and reach storm force on the coast and the IJsselmeer. The winds will turn in the afternoon towards the south west and will hit storm force nine in coastal areas and up to to 90 kph inland.

The winds will drop in southern parts in the second half of the afternoon but will only die down in the North in the early evening, the KNMI said.

Weeronline also sees winds of up to 100 to 110 kph in the coast areas.
