The king of Morocco, Mohammed VI, was spotted on an informal walkabout in Amsterdam on Friday evening.

The king, in a jumper, jeans and woolly hat, posed with local youth for photographs which have since been placed on his Facebook page.

According to the Telegraaf, the king is on a tour of Europe and recently visited Russia and Hungary. He arrived at Schiphol airport on Friday afternoon.

Morocco is poised to replace Turkey as co-chair of the Global Counter Terrorism Forum alongside the Netherlands, which took over in October. However, it is unclear if the king has any formal meetings during his visit.

According to website Marokko.nl, the king will be in the Netherlands for several days.
