Heineken boosts sales, expects ‘challenging’ 2016

Photo: Wikimedia CommonsHeineken sold more beer last year and expects to boost sales again in 2016, despite the ‘increasingly challenging environment’, the Dutch brewing group said on Tuesday.

Full year sales were up 6.5% at €20.5bn while net profit rose 16% to €2bn.

Sales, which were up 2.3% in volume terms, rose in all regions apart from Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and were particularly hard hit in Russia and Nigeria, Heineken said in a statement. .

‘While we expect further volatility in emerging markets and deflationary pressures in 2016, we are confident that we will again deliver top and bottom line growth, as well as margin expansion in line with our guidance,’ chief executive Jean-François van Boxmeer said.
