Two Dutch tennis matches likely to have been fixed: betting experts

February 18, 2016

Photo: Depositphotos.comMatch-fixing may have been involved in two 2015 tennis matches in the Netherlands, according to a new list of suspect events published by the European sports betting integrity body ESSA.

Neither match is named but one is said to have taken place between April and June and the other between July and September, the ESSA report shows.

One match previously highlighted as being dubious took place last July at The Hague Open in Scheveningen between Kazakh nationals Andrej Golubev and Aleksander Nedovchov. Betting on the match was analysed in detail on website sportdw.com, which said there had been ‘an astonishing move in the prices’.

If this is one of the two matches referred to by ESSA, the other match either took place at the ATP/WTA tournament in Rosmalen or at the ITF games in Alkmaar, Breda or Zeeland, broadcaster Nos says.

Last month the BBC and BuzzFeed News said they had been handed a confidential dossier that showed a ‘hard core’ of 10 players were involved in persistent match-fixing on the ATP tour.
