snow in DrentheCommuters had to contend with snow and icy roads in parts of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe on Monday morning after the temperature dropped below freezing.

There will be more snow later in the day, Nos weather forecaster Marco Verhoef said. Groningen is likely to be hardest hit because it is coldest there, Verhoef said.

Gritting lorries have been out in force to make sure the roads are ice-free for the first day back after the Christmas break.
