Dutch aid worker seriously injured in Jakarta bombings

JakartaA Dutch worker for the United Nations is among those seriously injured in Thursday’s Jakarta suicide bomb blasts, the UN said in a statement.

The man has undergone an operation and is in hospital, Dutch media report. He is married with four children and works for the UN’s environment programme in the Indonesian capital.

The death toll currently stands at seven with an unknown number of injuries, the BBC says on Thursday afternoon. Five of those dead were terrorists – two who blew themselves up and three who died in gun battles with police.

Islamic terror group IS has claimed responsibility.
