Telcos warned about telemarketing by Dutch consumer authority

Six telecom companies have changed telemarketing practices under pressure from the Dutch consumers authority ACM. Two other companies have stopped telemarketing altogether following the ACM’s intervention, the organisation said on Wednesday.

The authority has not named any of the companies involved.

The complaints against the eight companies primarily concerned their failure to implement new rules which give consumers time to reconsider before a contract agreed by phone becomes official.
